Shades and UK tint law

Not sure between 20% and 30%? Our office has a display piece of glass showing each shade, so you can see them in person on the day of your appointment.

UK law lets you tint rear windows any shade. Front driver and passenger windows must let through at least 70% of light and the windscreen 75%, and factory glass already lets through less than full light, so we only tint from the B pillar back (gov.uk rules). Our window tinting page has the full shade guide.

Who will tint my car?

Our staff, who have undergone the UK's highest level of window tinting training and have years of combined experience.

Are window tints fitted to the outside or inside?

Window tints are always applied to the inside of the glass, which protects the film and gives a seamless, long-lasting finish. If you see us working on the outside, that's just the preparation stage where we shape the film before fitting it inside.

What if it's faulty?

Every window tint comes with our lifetime warranty, covering bubbles, peeling, fading or colour changes. If anything is wrong we will re-fit it for as long as you own your vehicle.

What shade is most commonly chosen?

The most popular shade is 20%, striking the perfect balance: never too dark, never too light. For maximum privacy we recommend our 5% tint.

How long till I can roll down my windows?

We advise waiting at least 5 days after tinting. Your windows still work normally in an emergency, but lowering them too soon can cause the tint to peel before it has fully dried.

Will I be pulled by the Beeston police?

Rear tints in any shade are legal, so they shouldn't be a reason to stop you. The law covers the front: the windscreen must let through at least 75% of light and the front side windows at least 70%. Factory glass already lets through less than full light, so even a light film can take the fronts under that limit, which is why we only tint from the B pillar back.

Can window tint be removed?

Yes, window tint is fully reversible. We offer a removal service, just call us for a quote, or you can peel the film off yourself and clean any adhesive residue with a glue remover.

Will my vehicle pass an MOT in Beeston with window tints?

Rear tints won't fail an MOT: it is not illegal to tint your rear windows in any shade you prefer. The MOT checks the front glass, which we leave untinted. If you ever have an MOT issue related to tints, contact us and we will help resolve it.

Will the film cause any issues with the rear defroster lines?

No. The film is applied directly over your defroster lines without causing any harm, and it's so thin that your defroster continues to work as normal.

Does my car need to be clean upon arrival?

A clean car helps but isn't essential. Please make sure the exterior is reasonably clean, as heavy mud from off-roading would stop us tinting properly. Inside, the cleaner the better, but we thoroughly clean your windows before applying the film anyway.

Will the window film applied affect my radio signals in Beeston?

No, the film we use is non-metallic, so it won't interfere with your vehicle's signals, including GPS, radio, or mobile phone reception. You can enjoy the benefits of tinted windows without any impact on your car's connectivity.
